River Pride is proud to announce that longtime community member Barry Davis will serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s celebration. His address will take place at 3:00 PM in the pavilion at Thousand Island Park, marking a meaningful close to a vibrant weekend of Pride events.
The afternoon’s programming will begin at 2:30 PM with a special performance by the Northern Blend Chorus, who will present a selection of songs celebrating pride. Following Barry Davis’s keynote remarks, attendees will gather for the raising of the Pride flag – a symbolic finale to the weekend and a reminder that Pride is something to be celebrated all year long.
Barry Davis has been a dedicated member of the Cape Vincent community throughout his adult life, where he raised his two children and made a lasting impact as an educator. Known for his warmth and connection to others, Barry continues to be a familiar and friendly presence around town in his retirement. Whether he’s traveling, playing pickleball, or picking up shifts at local establishments, he remains deeply engaged with the community and passionate about bringing people together.
“Barry represents the very best of what River Pride stands for – community, connection, and showing up for one another,” said River Pride Coordinator Alex Hazard. “We’re honored to have him close out our weekend with a message that reflects both his personal journey and the spirit of this incredible community.”
“I’m truly honored to be part of River Pride,” said Barry Davis. “This community has given me so much over the years, and I’m excited to celebrate with everyone and reflect on how far we’ve come – while recognizing there’s still more to do. Pride is about showing up, supporting each other, and carrying that energy forward all year long.”
River Pride invites all attendees to join in this special closing event to celebrate community, visibility, and the enduring spirit of Pride.
